Family/Couples/Individual Therapy

The challenges that families face today are greater than any other time in our history.

In the majority of families today either both parents work outside the home or the family, as a result of divorce, is a single parent family. In either case the demands of a career and raising children have increased compared to past generations.

There is an increase in violence on TV, in movies and with video games. There is an increase in a drug and alcohol abuse. The divorce rate has hovered at 50 percent for decades. When you combine all these factors and others, it's easy to see why families are under increased stress.

Family therapy is a treatment modality that considers the whole unit and how it is functioning.

Oftentimes, when the families patterned ways of responding to situations change, symptoms that exist with one family member may subside. Result? Family cohesion and harmony.

Now and then in everyone's life there are moments when we have more questions than answers. There are also times in which traumatic events leave us wondering what to do next to and where to turn. It is at these moments that seeking individual therapy can be extremely helpful.

Most people have the internal resources to support them and overcome life’s challenges large and small. However, many people are not aware of how to mobilize themselves and their resources.

One way to view family/couples/individual therapy is to consider it to be a collaborative effort in which each individual gains a unique vantage point from which they can see their life situation anew and gain a different perspective.

Then we begin to find the solutions and gain momentum once again.
