Autistic Spectrum Issues

Does your child react too overtly to sensory stimulation? Does he or she have meltdowns when stressed? Or does he or she just “cave” to the situation and escape, mentally or physically?
In our office, we find many children and even adults suffering with the spectrum of autistic problems, and many are complex and interrelated. This means parents who are extremely stressed are more likely to either pander to their children’s behaviors or use a behavioral approach which may work in some instances and not in others. In addition, many families are using prescribed medications because there are no other options for the sizeably overt or covert reactions. If the medications work, great! But when they don’t, it helps to remember…it doesn’t have to be this way.
What we find in dealing with children and adults, autistic and Asperger’s, is that after an evaluation that includes qEEG (quantitative electroencephalogram), there are patterns of brainwaves established in the brain that need to be re-established in a more appropriate and efficient manner. This is done through neurofeedback and sensory integration. The results are amazing. Lives change because symptoms subside after the brain has a chance to find a better way to process information, mentally and physically.
If a family is using medication, behavior approaches, or both, they find that often neurofeedback assists them in order to lower dosages or improve the results of behavioral tactics, and their child emerges from the fog of spectrum issues with a new beginning.
